"Commiserative Edition"

The 11th Circuit has found that Obamacare's mandate to force Americans to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional.  The 11th Circuit panel of three judges upheld (2 to 1) a Florida District Court's decision that the mandate was unconstitutional.  However, the panel declined to affirm the full scope of Judge Vinson's ruling and hold the entire law unconstitutional.  We reported on Judge Vinson's decision here.

Health and Human Services announced an amendment to its final regulations for preventive care under the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (PPACA or "Obamacare" for short).  As you may know, Obamacare requires all non-grandfathered plans to provide preventive care at 100%, meaning fully paid by the insurance carrier with no co-pays.

The latest knock-off in China to hit China is an entire fake store!  Fake Apple stores, fake IKEA's, and fake Dairy Queens are showing up across China as this WSJ article discusses:

BEIJING—In China's "fake world," consumers can shop for furniture at an imitation IKEA store, eat a six-inch sandwich at an outlet strikingly similar to Subway, and then grab dessert at "Dairy Fairy"— where they might knock back an Oreo-flavored "Ice Storm" whose, thick, creamy texture takes unabashed inspiration from the famous Dairy Queen "Blizzard."

You are always on shaky ground to be rooting for a tropical storm.  You just might get your wish.  However, it sure looks like Don is going to be exactly what drought afflicted Texas needs right now.  I don't think a tropical storm has ever been greeted with as big of welcome.  It is pouring rain outside my window right now with big thunder claps.  What a sweet sound.

Track Don here.

The WSJ highlights the growing threat small and medium size businesses face from hacking and cyber theft:

There is a new theme park in Las Vegas - you pay $400 to operate a D5 . . . seriously:

On May 4, Dig This opened at 3012 S. Rancho Drive, about five miles west of Las Vegas Boulevard. The $1-million theme park sits on 5 acres with a 2,850-sq-ft office, gift shop and training facility. Mumm has a two-year lease for the land and building.

Travelers has introduced a claim app for auto accidents.  It will walk you through the steps you need to take to document the accident and submit a claim.  It will allow you to photograph the damage and record an audio description.

The app is available for iPhone and Android phones.  You can download it here.

This must be frustrating for Kathleen Sebelius.  Rasmussen reports that nearly 70% of likely U.S. Voters believe greater free market competition between insurance companies would do more to reduce health care costs than more government regulation.
